MicroTau awarded $1.5M NSW Physical Sciences Fund grant for commercial aviation certification

MicroTau has been awarded $1.52M under Round 5 of the Office of the NSW Chief Scientist and Engineer's Physical Sciences Fund. This funding will support MicroTau's certification program for its drag-reducing Riblet Package for narrowbody airliners with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

According to the NSW EPA’s 2021 State of the Environment report, Transport is the largest and fastest growing sector for energy use in NSW, with aviation emissions the second largest contributor to total emissions behind road transport. Unlike all other sectors, aviation emissions are expected to continue to grow in NSW beyond 2030 and will offset the advances in emissions abatement enabled by the uptake of electric cars and buses.

Certification of the Riblet Package with the FAA will enable MicroTau to deliver to commercial operators around the globe.

This is the second grant awarded to MicroTau under the Physical Sciences Fund. We extend our thanks to the Office of the NSW Chief Scientist and Engineer for their support.
