Meet the Team: Isabela Figo
Meet Isa, our Brazilian Partnerships Queen. Isa is one of two Partnership Managers focused on building and maintaining relationships within commercial and defence aviation. She has led the execution of our Defense Innovation Unit project since 2024 and looks forward to completing the flight tests.
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Isabela, a proud Brazilian who prefers to keep my age a mystery! I graduated in Industrial Engineering and spent over 12 years at a German multinational before moving to Australia. Since then, I’ve had two roles before joining MicroTau. Throughout my career, I’ve worked across quality (5 years), manufacturing (5 years), and project management (5 years)—a mix that has given me a well-rounded perspective on operations and strategy. Now, I’m a Partnerships Manager at MicroTau, where I’ve been focused on building relationships, especially within the Department of Defense (DoD) space.
Tell us about your journey at MicroTau. What was your first role, and how did you get to where you are today?
I joined MicroTau at the beginning of 2024 as a Project Manager, leading our Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) project. By 2025, I transitioned into the Partnerships Manager role, where I now focus on engaging DoD customers and driving strategic relationships to expand our impact.

What do you do in your spare time?
I love travelling to new places, spending quality time with friends and family, and making sure my loved ones have the best experiences—whether that’s going to Tomorrowland with my brother or simply hanging out with my almost 100-year-old grandma. I also spoil my niece and nephew endlessly, making sure they get whatever crazy ideas they come up with!
What’s been most exciting to work on lately?
This role has been an incredible learning experience—from the technical side of our technology to shaping business strategy and navigating the complex world of the DoD. The challenge of understanding how to communicate effectively, make the right connections, and push bold moves forward has been both exciting and rewarding.

Tell us about the cool stuff you get to do as part of your role.
The coolest part is definitely working with the amazing MicroTau team—a group of brilliant, driven people working on cutting-edge technology with real-world impact. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities, making it an incredibly dynamic environment.
What’s your crowning achievement at MicroTau?
I haven’t hit my biggest milestone yet, but once the DIU flight tests are complete, that will be my proudest achievement. Seeing the project through to the finish line and having a tangible impact will be a huge moment!
